Lovely old mansion and the best B&B host!

The mansion was truly a “home away from home” with comfortable beds and amenities! Tina, the owner, is a wonderful host and cooks the best breakfast meals and offers a variety of snacks that one can access 24/7! There’s no check-in or check-out time and we got our own designated parking spot and designated bathroom! She’s also an excellent conversationalist and we learned a lot from her from the mansion’s history, the city of Troy, places to visit, and even vacation destinations and tips! The house doesn’t have the luxuries that hotel chains offer but the old charm and exquisite architectural and historical details of the old mansion PLUS the wonderful service Tina offers surely exceeded our expectations! We are actually planning on staying there again this coming weekend with our children this time! - Rufino and Lizza

Very cool and historic B&B

Olde Judge Mansion Very cool and historic B&B. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, but the owner assured us it was safe and we had no problems. Warm cozy place with lots of atmosphere. We did not eat breakfast, but the owner was very accommodating and had lots of delicious snacks available 24/7. Warning, your bathroom is down the hall. You do have a private bathroom, but not in your room. Robes are graciously provided. Plenty of off-street parking. The TV’s are ancient CRT’s, but you’re probably not staying in a B&B to watch TV.

A Wonderful and Happy B&B in the Albany Area

I have been meaning to write this review for a long time (actually about 4 years). I stayed in the Olde Judge Mansion many times from 2012 to mid-2014 while a faculty member at RPI, after having stayed at many other hotels in the Albany area during the 6 years prior. This B&B was far and away the best place for me to stay, partly because of the hospitality of its owner, Christina, and because I simply enjoyed the building and comforts. Troy is a grand old American city with an interesting history and a rather sad decline, like many towns in upstate New York. Although the neighborhood looks a bit foreboding, it is actually rather interesting, the building and its interior are both lovely and interesting and the bed, bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable. Breakfast is made to order, and Christina is well-abreast of the town's history, politics and economics, in addition to being a lovely hostess. All-in-all, I heartily recommend this fine B&B without reservation (no pun intended).

Hidden gem

Hidden away in the heart of Troy, the Olde Judge Mansion lies waiting to delight the unwary (or savvy) traveler! An old brick exterior in a working class neighborhood hides a gorgeous interior. Built in 1892, the main floor boasts beautiful hand carved woodwork, ornate tin walls, and antique furniture & fixtures. Tina the hostess (Miss Tina to the neighbors) is outgoing, gracious and a fountain of knowledge concerning Troy Coupled with comfortable rooms and overly generous breakfasts, the Olde Judge Mansion is not to be missed.

Perfect!

I was by myself and a little worried about staying in this part of town, but there was no need to worry at all. There's private, off-street parking (each room has it's own space) right near the front door. I was attending an RPI reunion and came back to the inn very late at night and always felt perfectly safe. The building is beautiful, old, lots of woodwrk, columns, typical of ﹰTroy's wealthy past. Tina was amazing, so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. She leaves out snacks (including home made banana bread) which was perfect for my late night arrivals. The price is right too, but book directly with Tina, you will get a better price than booking websites. I'm looking forward to coming back next year!
